Argh, wat een stresswerk. Honderden voetnoten langslopen, duizenden Syrische citaten dubbelchecken, miljoenen puntjes onder de h, en niet te vergeten: een Algemene Eindconclusie. Dat laatste is het engste en het enige wat nog af moet, en de bedoeling is dat dat vandaag gaat gebeuren. Waarna het kreng uitgeprint kan om naar de promotiecommissie gestuurd te worden. Wens mij wijsheid, sterkte, moed en wat u allemaal nog meer kunt bedenken!

Update. Zo dan, conclusie naar promotor gestuurd zodat die er nog even naar kan kijken, en dan kan de boel morgen de deur uit. Ik ben momenteel te gaar om dingen tot me door te laten dringen.

Update 29-10-2010. Het is gebeurd. Nu kan ik echt opgelucht ademhalen. Heel erg bedankt voor al jullie harten onder mijn riem! Drabkikker gaat een blik Schultenbräu opentrekken.

  8. Well done!!! That part of your belt (riem=remmi :-) ) is a new figure of speech to me and the rest of the update remains as a mystery, but hopefully it’s something nice. Have a great great weekend and lots of oxygen!

    Ps. If you get nightmares, it’s totally normal after handing in your dissertation – so I’ve heard.

    1. It is just a matter of sticking a heart under someone’s belt. To encourage them, you see. Some Dutch people say it the other way around: “to stick a belt under someone’s heart”. But that is such obvious nonsense!! That makes no sense at all. Haha.

      1. So I figured, but it is a somewhat puzzling picture – less scary than version 2 though… It sounds like a very aggressive thing to do, sticking belts under others’ hearts. Oh boy. Thank you for reassuring me it’s nonsense! Lots of hearts and belts everybody ;-)!

        2. About the other reference: Schultenbräu is a well-known cheap beer brand, sold in half-liter cans at Aldi stores. Consuming it is considered unacademical. In fact I think I’ll go for the oxygen – that’s the best wish I’ve been given in ages! I thank you, also for the nightmare consolation.

      3. That’s fast! Too fast to believe/remember :-).
        You are brave to ask. It’s going. I even have a deadline in mind (yes, again). I plan to have a manuscript ready by September (that’s when I plan to start studying pedagogy). Grinding it to a point where I can hand it in takes a little longer, I’m afraid. You cannot miss it when it happens!
